Located in Big Stone County on the Western bump of Minnesota sits the community of Ortonville and the home of Big Stone Lake. A lake for all seasons. Big Stone Lake is 26 miles long and borders Minnesota and South Dakota. Wintertime brings opportunities to go snowmobiling, sledding, and ice fishing on the lake.
Warmer weather finds lake residents boating, canoeing, fishing and swimming. Other activities include water skiing, tubing riding bike on the bike trail through the National Wildlife Refuge. Golfing on Ortonville’s 18 hole golf course overlooking Big Stone Lake or just hanging out with a picnic basket and friends at one of the many parks along the lake. The Ortonville area is also known for its awesome hunting of deer, ducks, pheasants and geese. There are thousands of acres of public hunting in the Big Stone Area. Ortonville has some great little coffee shops and a beautiful historical downtown area. Come and enjoy Ortonville. Know has the town with a Heart!
